About
The ANU Community Music Centre hosts four Blue Room Sessions events each year, each consisting of up to three concerts. Applicants can apply to perform in a concert held in the ANU School of Music’s blue room, the Big Band Room. This concert series welcomes and showcases ACT musicians of all ages (6 and up), presenting broadly classical and acoustic music and providing the necessary performing experience for the developing musician.
The application to apply to be a performer is free of charge, and the ticket entry into each concert is by gold coin donation, which is donated to the Friends of the School of Music.
Details
There is a 5:30 pm, 6:30 pm, and 7:30 pm concert per session.

Guidelines for Applicants
- Applicants may nominate ONE piece to perform, and it needs to be 7 minutes or less in duration. Please make sure you have timed your performance prior to application so that you can provide accurate information to us.
- There is a limit of 5 students per studio/tutor per session.
- Performances should be acoustic and not require the use of amplifiers, PA sound, or general contemporary backline.
- Small chamber groups (duets, trios, quartets, etc.) are welcome to apply as well as soloists.
- Please have all of your performance information (name of the piece, composer, duration, instrumentation, etc.) on hand when submitting an application. Submit all details as you would like them presented in the concert program.
- We aim to place all applicants into a concert, so if you apply, please keep the concert date free in your diary. We also understand that life happens, so please let us know as soon as possible if you need to withdraw your application.
- Applications close the Wednesday a week before the concert date; if you apply, you will receive your program information (confirmation of the time of your concert and a draft program) on the Monday before the concert.
